This document describes the goals for my development this semester in my project and shows the mapping between the actions in my project and my competency development.
Goal:
In this project I want to achieve, that users are able to manage their own fleet but not control it directly. The goal of the boat is cleaning up oil spills on the ocean, which can be done very efficiently with the techniques which are already developed in the protei project.
My input:
For this project I have to design a cheap boat, build from off-the-shelf components, which can maneuver independently and autonomous. Also I need to develop the concept of the user involvement and the way he can control his own boat or fleet.
Deadlines:
23th of march, mid-term,
For the presentations on the mid-term I want to have a finished boat which can sail remotely controlled and have a set-up for the user involvement concept. This can then be presented at the mid-term presentations.
May 17th, Dutch Electronic Art Festival (DEAF),
At this moment (3 weeks before the final exhibition) I have to present my concept at DEAF, which will cause that my prototype has to be finished at least to the point that on the exhibition floor the concept and functions of the sailing vessel becomes clear. And even more important the user interface must be finished because the user (and public) will mostly interact with the interface and not with the boat on the middle of the ocean. A clear presentation/pitch must be finished to give a clear idea of the concept of the product.
Final exhibition,
This is 3 weeks after Deaf, in this time the report and reflections will be made and also a set-up of my showcase to address my C-condition (I’am already working on this in the evenings). Also the communication between the other ships which were build in the protei community and mine can be addressed in these weeks.
